USA is Not OK

We are a company full of artists whose only objective is to make things to the best of our abilities while maintaining the capacity to feed ourselves. Writing about the latest catastrophic world event, which will look dated by the time the next one rolls around, is not something we have much interest in. This time though, it might effect our dear sweet readers, so I will put us both at risk of boredom with the following statement:

The US government, in its infinite wisdom, is slapping a 10% tariff on our books. Maybe. I say maybe because it might not include books in the end (because that has always been a common exception for people who value an educated population). Luckily for you, we don't make our books in China so we avoid whatever THAT particular spat evolves into. From a quick look around that puts us in a minority of publishers, so good news for you!

Prices might go up, but when haven't they? Unless you slept through the last 10 years that's not news. The only thing you should worry about is the tax you USians might get hit with. It's a whopping 10%... of production cost. So, expect to be paying a good 50 cents OR MORE when the tax man come knocking with your book. If they're cool like the import guys in the UK they'll charge you the equivalent of 10 dollars service charge to inform you you owe them 50c. I don't think the US has sunk to those depths of depravity yet but I won't jinx it.

Anyway, I've already lost the thread here. In short, our stubborn refusal to make books cheaply in east asia has finally paid off, tariffs are dumb, we can't stop won't stop making things, don't get too stressed out it's bad for your health.

And if you're not in the US? Then please un-read everything, stuff is the regular level of terrible.
